Crime, Thriller
Married insurance adjuster John Forbes falls for femme fatale Mona Stevens while her boyfriend is in jail. Mona turns out to be the pitfall of the title, and John brings on serious consequences by stepping outside of his marriage. This is a classic noir drama from director Andre DeToth (House of Wax), starring Dick Powell, Lizabeth Scott, Jane Wyatt, and the super villainous Raymond Burr as the jealous boyfriend. As the film's original tagline said, "A man can be as strong as steel...but somewhere there's a woman who'll break him!" Based on a novel by Jay Dratler. For cinematography buffs, the noir atmosphere is created by the great director of photography, Harry J. Wild (His Kind of Woman, Murder My Sweet).
