Border Phantom (1937)

Bob Steele, Karl Hackett, Harley Wood, Don Barclay
S. Roy Luby
Barbara Hartwell is about to be arrested for the murder of her uncle. It's up to Larry O'Day and his sidekick Lucky to find the real killer and clear Barbara of the charges. Directed by S. Roy Luby for Republic Pictures, Border Phantom is a potboiler from the heyday of Hollywood's Poverty Row. Bob Steele plays Larry, and his brain must be spinning in this one, especially when he finds himself trying to solve a mystery involving wealthy Chinese bachelors and "picture girls" being smuggled across the Mexican border.
