Green Eyes (1934)

Charles Starrett, Shirley Grey
Richard Thorpe
A wild costume party at wealthy man's mansion turns sour when the host is found stabbed to death in a closet. This moody mystery (based loosely on a novel by H. Ashbrook) stars Shirley Grey and Charles Starrett, and was directed by Richard Thorp, who would go on to a distinguished career as the man behind such favorites as Jailhouse Rock, The Thin Man Goes Home, and Ivanhoe, not to mention a string of Tarzan movies! In this feature he's firmly in the "old dark house" genre, which was enormously popular in the 1930s. (BW)
