Loaded Pistols (1948)

Barbara Britton, Gene Autry
John English
Musical, Western
Starring the legendary Gene Autry as himself, Loaded Pistols follows the screen icon and singer as he endeavors to protect an ill-fated friend who is wrongly accused of murder after his gun is stolen and used to perpetrate the heinous crime. Chaos ensues as Autry attempts to hide his unwitting ally only to be constantly ferreted out, forcing him to take the law into his own hands in order to solve the mystery once and for all. Featuring five original number written by Autry himself, this film bears the distinction of being the only one of his films where his leading lady (in this case the lovely Barbara Britton) was equally billed above the title as his co-star, knocking his trusted horse Champion out of the honors.
