Joan Bennett, Edward Robinson
Fritz Lang
Film Noir
This is the story of Christopher Cross (Edward G. Robinson) a middle-aged cashier who rescues a woman from her abusive boyfriend. Smitten by their friendship, Cross lets her think he’s a wealthy artist, but the results are deadly. Fritz Lang (Metropolis, Fury) directs this Universal feature in the classic noir style, with Dan Duryea (Night Passage, The Burglar) as the venal Johnny Prince, and Joan Bennet (Father of the Bride, Dark Shadows) as the troublemaking but vivacious “Kitty” March. This one will keep you way from bad women! (BW)
